We have received information from the organization SOS-APRID of Uvira that the
women prisoners of the central prison of Uvira are suffering. These women are in
prison for different reasons, unfortunately with their children. All the children are less
than 8 years old and they are in prison with their mothers. These innocent children
lack clothes and food (they eat with difficulty).
The women prisoners also have no clothes, no hygienic kit. They use dirty clothes for
their monthly period which causes infections and other diseases. They don't have
soap to wash themselves and they suffer in the central prison of Uvira. After being
informed about this bad news, Luc and Delice Mulimbalimba decided to help these
women and their children through our organisation MHCD (Mission in Health Care
and Development). We directly informed the leaders of MHCD Luvungi and Uvira
who went to see the leaders of the organisation who informed us about this news.
We have donated hygienic kits for women (Days for Girls Kits) and clothes for women
and children. We are pleased to inform you that the MHCD leaders with the leaders
of the organization SOS-APRID visited the central prison of Uvira last week where
they saw these women who suffer in the prison with their children. We distributed
hygiene kits (Days for Girls Kit) to each woman, clothes for each woman and their
children. They were very pleased to receive this gift from the MHCD for the first time.
I would like to remind you that these clothes and Days for Girls Kits came in the
container we received last month from MHCDASA Adelaide Australia.
These women and children sang and danced after receiving this donation from
Mission in Health Care and Development MHCD. This small gesture of love and
generosity towards them made them forget for a moment that they were in prison.
These women and their children need your love and support.
I would like also to let you know that we have a project to distribute Days for Girls
Kits, clothes and other items like soap, underwear, etc in other prisons in the
province of South Kivu where innocent children and women suffer from day to day.
After the central prison of Uvira we will distribute the same materials in the central
prison of Fizi Territory in South Kivu Province.
We thank Days for Girls Adelaide in South Australia for supporting us with Days for
Girls Kits. For more information about the prisoners programmed in DRC, feel free to
