Malaria is one of the killer diseases in Africa and DRC.70% of the children we receive in Luvungi MHCD Hospital are suffering from malaria. It’s so bad because if a child goes for days without proper treatment it results to anaemia and most children lose their lives. It also leads to cerebral malaria and the children can die and if they survive they develop epilepsy. Many expectant women lose their lives due to malaria. In solving this, MHCD has a program in which we distribute mosquito nets to women and children for the sake of fighting and preventing malaria. The program has helped a lot in reducing infant mortality rates.
